George Kessler: 1868-1955

George Kessler was from the Pekin, Illinois area. This mallard drake decoy is in original paint and has original painted tack eyes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Stephen Lane 1842-1900 

Stephen Lane is known as the earliest of the decoy carvers in the Lacon Illinois area.  These are three examples of Lane decoys circa 1870/80 with a D.W.V. (Daniel W. Vorhies) Brand on the bottom of all three.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brink Lane (Dates unknown) currently being researched

This decoy was carved by Brink Lane a second generation Lane carver. This decoy is circa 1920 or earlier.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Alphon Lester Anderson 1889-1980

Alphon "Andy" Anderson owned a piece of property on the Illinois river near Chillicothe, Illinois where he and Judge Glen Cameron would hunt together. this decoy is Circa 1910.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fred Allen: 1838-1912

 Fred Allen was one of the first avid hunter and fisherman who started a business selling sporting equipment from Boats and oars to decoys (He carved himself).

Pictured here is one of the rarest Fred Allen decoys. A Canvasback in original paint. Any Fred Allen decoy is a rare find, but the Canvasback is one of the rarest as he carved mainly Mallards.
