This is a great Canvasback carved by one of the hundreds of unknowns on the Upper Chesapeake Bay. It appears to be in original paint and I am estimating it was carved in the 1930s/40s and has an original weight and sculpted flat area on the bottom of the decoy. It has an undercut thinly carved bill. It has the appearances of Cecil county Maryland with the long thin paddle tail and the neck shelf. It has some attributes of and possibly carved by Wally Algard. It is an exceptionally well carved decoy definitely carved by a professional carver. It has better form and style than some of the well known carvers of the area. It would make a great...I mean really great decoy for any collection.
